Monsoon escapes

Monsoon in the Western Ghats is one of the great travel experiences most Indians have never had. The coffee estates disappear into mist, the streams turn into waterfalls, rooms have warm showers and hot food, and prices drop 30% because everyone else is doing the predictable Goa-in-December thing. We only list properties here that are actually enjoyable in heavy rain — not the ones where you're stuck indoors for four days.
