Chapter two

A day at the house.

A few moments, in the order they tend to happen.

Arrival
14:00
Arrival

You arrive to a private entrance, parking on site, and a quick self check-in. The first walk-through usually lands on the vintage details right away, then the balcony and terrace pull you toward the view.

First evening
19:00
First evening

By evening, the terrace becomes the easiest place to sit, especially if the weather turns cool. Inside, the dining table, TV, and board games give the night a simple rhythm once dinner is done.

Next morning
08:00
Next morning

Morning light reaches the balcony early, and the house feels calm before the day starts moving. Coffee, hot water, and a slow breakfast at the dining table fit the pace here.

Departure
11:00
Departure

The last hour usually goes to one more look from the balcony and a final sweep through the bedrooms. If you had more time, the terrace and the nearby trails would be the parts worth lingering over.

Chapter three

The spaces.

Space 01

Master bedroom

The bedroom has a lockable door, wardrobe storage, and heating for colder nights.

Space 02

Second bedroom

The second room keeps the same simple setup, with a wardrobe, extra pillows, and a private bathroom nearby.

Space 03

Living room

This is where the TV, board games, and extra blankets come together after sunset.

Space 04

Dining area

The dining table sits close to the kitchen, so meals and tea service stay easy and unforced.

Space 05

Kitchen

The kitchen comes with crockery, cutlery, and the basics needed for a self-catered stay.

Space 06

Terrace

The terrace is set up with outdoor furniture and works best in the cooler part of the day.

Space 07

Balcony

The balcony gives you a quieter place to stand outside without leaving the house.

Space 08

Game den

The board games live here, making it the easiest room to claim once the evening settles in.

Space 09

Bathrooms

Both bathrooms have hot water, shampoo, and the usual essentials, plus a hairdryer for quick packing.

Space 10

Entry and parking

The private entrance and on-site parking make arrivals straightforward, even with bags and groceries.

The feeling

In a word.

Unhurried

The terrace carries the evening air, and the tartan blankets make sense once the sun drops. Inside, the period furniture and warm lighting keep the place feeling lived-in rather than staged.

Together

Two bedrooms and a proper dining table give six people enough room to sit down without splitting up. The board games, TV, and shared living areas make it easy to stay in the same orbit.

Self-contained

We keep the basics in place for a stay that runs on its own: kitchen, washer, wifi, parking, and self check-in. The building staff and our team stay close enough to help, but the house works well on its own.

Step outside the gate

Where you are.

Serene sits in Barog, in the quieter hill stretch of Solan district where pine, road bends, and small homes replace city noise. The area feels more residential than resort-like, with mountain weather that changes through the day and evenings that cool off fast. Kasauli, Solan, and the older hill-road stops are all within reach for a day out, but the immediate setting is about slow drives, fresh air, and a neighborhood that settles down early.

Good to know

Worth knowing.

  • Evenings in the hills turn cool quickly, so the terrace feels better with a layer on.
  • The house does not have a pool or lawn, so most of the social time happens indoors or on the balcony and terrace.
  • Mosquitoes can show up around dusk, especially if doors stay open while you sit outside.
  • The vintage style comes with a few old-house quirks, including furniture and finishes that are more characterful than polished.
  • The road into Barog can feel winding for first-time hill drivers, so plan a little extra time after dark.
