10 villas in Goa that most travellers never find

Skip the party strip. These hidden homes in Aldona, Siolim and Assagao give you the Goa locals actually love.

Everyone goes to Baga. Everyone gets stuck in the same traffic, the same shacks, the same Instagram reels. The Goa locals love is 40 minutes north, across the Chapora river, in villages most holiday-rental platforms forget.

What north Goa actually looks like

Aldona is green, quiet, and built around a 400-year-old church. Siolim has Portuguese mansions with courtyards older than most countries. Assagao is where the chefs and artists live — you'll eat better here than on any beach.

The kind of villa to look for

Single-storey houses with internal courtyards, hand-painted tiles, long verandas, mango trees in the garden. Usually 3–5 bedrooms, built for family gatherings, and almost always cheaper per-head than a beachfront resort.

How to book

Most of these homes aren't on the big OTAs — owners don't want 20 weddings a year, just quiet families and small groups. Juxtravel works directly with the owners. We video-verify each house and guarantee the price you see includes everything except GST.

Three to start with: Villa Rosarita (Aldona, 4BR), Casa Do Sol (Siolim, 3BR), Mãe Luiza (Assagao, 5BR).
