6 offbeat weekend escapes from Bangalore (without Coorg)

Love Coorg but bored of it? These six drivable spots give you better stays, fewer crowds and nicer weather.

Bangalore weekends default to Coorg. Coorg is lovely. Coorg is also 300,000 people every long weekend and a homestay market that hasn't felt new in a decade. Here's where to go instead.

1. Sakleshpur (4.5 hrs)

Coffee estates without the crowds. Single-family farmstays with private plunge pools are still under ₹18,000 a night if you book the non-star properties Juxtravel curates.

2. BR Hills (5.5 hrs)

Wildlife sanctuary, no cell signal, actual silence. Only drive here if you genuinely want to unplug. Three stays, all verified, all run by locals.

3. Hampi (6 hrs)

Hampi has boulders and a river and a 500-year-old Vijayanagara empire. Skip the backpacker hostels. The boutique stays on the Hippie Island side are unreal for the price.

4. Chikmagalur — but go further

Everyone goes to Chikmagalur town. Drive another 40km into the Mullayanagiri range and you're in forest homestays nobody's heard of.

5. Pondicherry (6.5 hrs, yes it's a stretch)

French quarter guesthouses for ₹4,000 a night, excellent food, Auroville next door. Worth the drive once in your life.

6. Ooty — but in the shoulder season

July is empty. October is perfect. Avoid May-June when every Bangalore family has the same idea.

All six have Juxtravel-verified properties on our /stays page. Search by city.
