A farmstay wedding, start to finish — our honest guide
Everything we've learned from hosting 40+ small weddings at Juxtravel properties: budgets, timelines, mistakes.

Farmstay weddings have a moment. 60 guests, two days, one beautiful property, everyone under the same roof. But there's a lot of bad advice on Instagram about how this works.
Realistic budget
For 60 guests over two days at a tier-1 farmstay (pool, proper kitchen, enough bathrooms):
- Venue (full buyout): ₹3–6 lakh
- Catering: ₹1,800–₹3,500 per person per day
- Decor: ₹1.5–4 lakh
- Mehendi + sangeet + wedding function setups: ₹2.5–5 lakh total
- Mandap + pheras setup: ₹80k–2 lakh
- Total landed cost: ₹12–25 lakh for a ‘small’ wedding
Anyone quoting half of this is cutting corners somewhere you'll notice.
Timeline
- 6 months out: Shortlist 4–5 properties, visit 2, block one.
- 4 months out: Lock caterer, decorator, photographer.
- 2 months out: Sound, mandap, bar (if alcohol), local permits.
- 1 month out: Final headcount, menu tasting, room allocation.
- Week of: Light test, rehearsal, breathe.
The three mistakes we see most
- Underbooking rooms. If the property has 12 rooms and your headcount is 60, you need a second property within 10 minutes. Not an hour.
- Not asking about noise cutoff. Many farms shut down loud music at 10 or 11pm for local permits. Find out before.
- Assuming the caretaker can run the wedding. They can't. You need a proper wedding planner — budget 10% of total.
